Astrophotography at the Very Large Array - This link will take you to a Powerpoint presentation of the Zoom presentation made to the Enchanted Lens Camera Club.

The Very Large Array is hosting a Star Party on April 25, 2025 from 8-10 PM. A group of photographers from the Enchanted Lens Camera Club will be attending this event. This only occurs once a year and allows for experiencing the night sky in close proximity to the massive antennas of the VLA.
There is also an open house being hosted by the Very Large Array on Saturday, April 26 2025.

Admission to these events is free but tickets still must be requested in advance.

Post-Trip Report

We had 15-20 Enchanted Lens Camera Club members that made it to the Star Party. The skies were amazing, but a couple of challenges were (1) the hours of the event (8-10 PM) only included a small window of time with very dark skies, and (2) the large number of attendees meant a lot of accidental light pollution from headlamps and flash lights. Even with these challenges, attendees appeared quite happy with getting to spend the evening in close proximity to the impressive antennas of the Very Large Array.
